This, of course, includes Christmas, which can be a pretty big budget item for a family of four.
The 2020 Christmas season felt a lot different than previous years (thanks, Covid), with many families forgoing traditional travel or large gatherings. 2021 promises a bit of return to normalcy.
With these trends, how much does the average Christmas cost a family of four these days?
Finance personality Dave Ramsey estimates that the average family will spend almost $1,000 on Christmas this year. That’s down about $50 from last year, but still a significant amount of money.

So does staying on top of holiday decorating trends, even if they’re DIY. Beautiful, premade decorations and craft supplies both cost money, after all.

Travel continues to increase after last year’s lockdowns, and many more families are sure to be filling up the tank or taking to the skies for the Christmas holidays.

And for families who might fly to reach their holiday destination, airfare is currently trending down, but still averages $260 per person for a round-trip flight. Any family of four flying for Christmas can expect to spend much more than the average family this season.
