Last year, my sister-in-law gave my daughter a copy of The Wonky Donkey, the adorable book by Craig Smith. While shopping this past weekend, my mom discovered that there is a sequel titled The Dinky Donkey. The next thing my mom said to me was, “I’m telling you so you don’t buy it, too.” That works for me but what about everyone else who shops for my daughter, especially my sister-in-law? How can I let all of them know not to buy it as well so she doesn’t receive multiple copies? That would work out well for Craig Smith but not so much for my bookshelf.

My solution: Suggested items! But…with a twist.

I asked my mom to go onto my daughter’s Giftster wish list and add the book as a suggested item. Then, I asked her to mark it purchased. That way, others will see the item and see that it has been bought.

Another great suggestion with this tip is to make a note in the item details when adding it. If you’ve purchased, say, an item of clothing, you can also list the color or size that you purchased.
